Terroni (www.terroni.com) having five locations in Toronto and two locations in Las Angeles, I had high expectations.
We were seated on the second floor which was nice because it was more quiet than downstairs. We did see a ton of staff going in and out of the kitchen and staff eating room. Unfortunately first impression was not good as my fork was dirty. Our waitress sounded like she was knowledgeable with the menu however our dishes came up short.
The complimentary bread to start was nice and doughy with crunchy crust which was served with oil was tasty.
The Arancini Siciliani was very good. It had just the right amount of cheese, beef and the rice was cooked perfectly with lots of flavour.
The pasta Agnolotti ala Lilli was really small and over priced. It cost $17.95 for the dish and you can literally count the amount they give you (fourteen). It was tasty with lots of flavour, especially tasting the sage and parmigiano and the pasta was light. This dish is not filling at all and for the price I wanted to leave feeling like my stomach wasn’t empty.
The Peppino pizza lacked spices. The roasted veggies were great and the thinness of the pizza was perfect. I prefer New York style.
Torta Calda al Cioccolato for dessert. It was similar to a molten cake. The chocolate was bitter and rich and the inside oozed.
